We should start using SANSKRIT the mother of all laungauges

Why Hindi
Tamil 08/07/2003 02:54

I think The best language suited in India is Tamil.
This is a much richer language than Hindi.

Why not Bengali
Basu 08/07/2003 02:58

Bengali is one of the sweetest and richest in literature.
Tagore, Sarath Chandra, Nasrul Islam all great literary giants made Bengali language richer. In my opinion the North South divide will come to an end as soon as Bengali
is made the national language.

Hindi as National language
Shashank 09/02/2005 13:46

Total no. of Tamil speaking ppl are roughly 7 crores. ( http://www.phrasebase.com/languages/index.php?cat=360) .

Total no. of Bengali speaking ppl are about 25 crores ( http://www.phrasebase.com/languages/index.php?cat=35) . So, in that respect, Bengali should be given preference for getting national language status.

But no...thats because total no. of ppl whose mother tongue is Hindi is whooping 49 crores!! ( http://www.phrasebase.com/languages/index.php?cat=30) . So, thats nearly 50% of India's population...!!!

There are over 20 major languages and 50 minor languages in India. Not all of them can be given national language status. There has to be ONE language which can server as a link language!!

Since majority of the people in India have Hindi as mother toungue, thats why it was given the national language status. Moreover, 20% of India's population is muslim who speak Urdu. As Urdu is almost similar to Hindi, so the overall hindi speaking population increases even more.

English is used as a link language only in South India because ppl in south dont want to learn or speak Hindi. Wherever you go, west, north or east India, the link language is Hindi. South Indians are comfortable speaking British language but not Hindi, which is a national language of their country...!!! Shame on you guys..!!

Hindi is a national language and is supposed to be a link language and you guys need to realize its importance. Have you ever wondered why this language problem is only in South India and not in any other parts of India..?? Its just becoz of the attitude of you people.

Ask a Marathi or Gujrati or Punjabi or Kashmiri or Bengali or Assamese or Oriya... they consider Hindi as their national language. They know it and they speak it wherever necessary. Then why cant you guys...??

I am not saying that you stop speaking your native language or English. I am just saying that show some respect for your national language...and try to learn it. Its gonna benefit you only and not anybody else.
