Since the turn of the new millennium, multiplexes have spread their wings across the Indian sub-continent and have made their presence felt in the metros in a big big way. No doubt, they have improved the quality of movie viewing for the cine goers but then for how many?? That's the big question. So far as the involvement ratio is concerned, there have been very few people who are actually frequenting multiplexes. The ticket prices is the major issue which needs to be thought about. The multiplex operators have to devise some innovative pricing strategies if they are really looking to improve the attendance rates on a daily basis and keep their bottomlines healthy in the long run.
Another issue which the cineplex operators need to look at is their expansion strategies. Till date, mostly they have created a clutter in certain select places of major cities in India, mostly the metros. They need to spread , spread towards the smaller towns of India who have limited access to variety cine entertainment but they definitely can afford multiplex entertainment.
A strategic shift needs to be looked at by the cineplex operators if they are really looking forward to creating a revolution of sorts in the cinema exhibition industry.
