The traditional three day Maha Shivarathri festival, culminating in an all nighter of bhajans, abhishekam, puja, and individual worship was conducted in San Francisco, CA, USA area temples Feb. 18-21. I asked the priest at the Shiva temple in Livermore to direct a prayer to Lord Shiva for more money and supplies for radical environmental basecamps and for treesitters, who are opposing reckless logging practices by rogue corporations, with the government's complicity. Also, I asked for Divine intervention in days ahead when the illegitimate U.S. president begins his well publicised intended assault against the earth, for the sake of oil company profits and his own further financial enrichment. The priest took my request into the inner sanctum and offered it before the lingam.

Bay area temples have initiated fund raising drives for earthquake relief in Gujarat. Also, temples here have hooked up with local human resources agancies to do something positive about providing assistance to homeless people, and to help with other social concerns.

This is wonderful, because the materialists cannot do it. The practitioners of the sanatana dharma are necessary! We are critical. If no yoga, then all we have left is bhoga. I pray to Divine Mother to let me do her will, and continue receiving whatever I need to be effective in ecological resistance organizing, and frontline participation at radical environmental basecamps.
