Creative and Militant Protests Greet Elite at World Economic Forum in NYC

Report by Between The Lines' Scott Harris.

Over 2,500 of the planet's wealthiest and most powerful people converged on the Waldorf Astoria Hotel for five days beginning Jan. 31st.

Groups from around the world opposed to corporate-led globalization, free trade and neo-liberal economic policies also came to New York. Weeks in advance of the event both the police and media had loudly warned against violent protesters coming to the city, justifying the deployment of 4,000 officers.
