PWG calls bandh in five States

HYDERABAD March 5. The People's War Group (PWG) has called bandh in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Orissa on March 22 to protest against the Prevention of Terrorism Ordnance (POTO).
In a joint statement issued by the A.P. State committee secretary, Ramakrishna, Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) secretary, Lachanna, North Telangana Special Zonal Committee secretary, Jampanna and Andhra Orissa Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC), Balakrishna called upon people to organise protest rallies, rasta roko, rail roko programmes in the five States.
The PWG leaders also urged people to gherao political leaders and force them to vote against the POTO in Parliament. The joint statement was highly critical of the Andhra Pradesh Government which "pressurised'' the Centre to include the PWG in the purview of the POTO.
They alleged that no section of people was exempted from the police atrocities in Andhra Pradesh.
PWG dump unearthed

The Adilabad district police have recovered a dump belonging to the banned People's War Group from a house in Gangapur village under Kadam police station limits.
The Adilabad SP, Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, told reporters on Tuesday that the police on a tip off raided a house in Gangapur village and recovered an electronic Godrej company typewriter worth Rs. 22,000, two five-kg gas cylinders and small weapon repairing instruments and large quantity of medicines.
The SP said the PWG naxals reportedly asked their militants to hide the material in a house and bring them back whenever necessary owing to stepped up combing in the area. The typewriter with both Telugu and English version was said to have been used by the banned outfit to draft press notes, the SP added.
