As Gujarat was still burning, over ninety organizations and movements from all parts of India gathered together to deliberate and chart out a joint course of action. They decided to concentrate on working among the youth, for inculcating and consolidating secular values and vision of alternative development, along with asserting the definite role of the state in ensuring social justice. The message was clear: the growing communalism has to be analyzed and confronted in the context of the capitalist, anti-people and unsustainable development policy and paradigm and the role of the state.
