there are more than one lakh medical and sales representattives who are working in the pharma marketing and other than pharma marketing. all of them are represented by only one Union called federation of medical and sales representatives' associations of india. medical and sales representatives working in different pharma companies and other consumer product companies observed month long relay strike all over india starting from 9th april to 8th may. all the states participated in the strike during their three days turn. the main demands of the union are job security , implementation of sales promotion employees act, industry wise discussion with union by representatives of the companies namely oppi(organisation of pharmaceutical producers of india) and idma(indian drug manufacturers association). the demands also include no change in 1970 patent act, which is going to increase the drug prices by many folds. there are large scale corrupt practices by the companies which include backdoor marketing which is resulting in entry spurious drugs in to the market thus putting health of the people at stake. the union makes a request to all those who are working for the self reliance of the indian industry to support the cause of the medical and sales representatives of this country who are patriotically launching struggle to save the indian industry both public sector and private sector which have grown due to protection of the 1970 patent act.
