Dear Friend,
You may be aware about the arrests made in Faizabad, of one thousand
students, youth , women and cultural activists of AISA, RYA and JSM, who
had assembled to remember the martyrs of the Indian Independence on the
anniversary of 1857 Revolt (10 May). The brutal repression of the Peace
March , Shaeed mela and the Ayodhya Convention and the protests following
it must have been conveyed to you through our earlier e-mail. The struggle
within the jail by those arrested and the resistance and efforts made by
different sections of society outside the jail forced the UP govt. to
release the arrested persons within a week on 15th and 16th of May .

However the nature of the repression, the increasing attacks on democratic
and peace initiatives, the length of the imprisonment indicates the
fascist gameplan for UP .

Delhi’s citizens have a critical role to play to counter such fascist build
up in the states around us, so that Gujarat and Ayodhya are not repeated.
To discuss the role of Delhi’s citizens as well as to share the experience
of the students, youth and cultural activists from Delhi released after
week long imprisonment in the jails of UP we are organizing a meeting on
24th.
We invite your participation

Date: 24 May

Time : 5.00 p.m.
Venue: Deputy Chairman Hall, Constitutional Club, Rafi Marg
