Yesterday, (8 June) a gang of 15 - 20 persons led by a Mr. Tulsiram Gilya, a local goon with administrative and political backing attacked the house keeper of Baba Amte's Ashram - Gangaram Yadav , in Choti Kasravad and put his own lock on the premises.Baba Amte is now in Anandvan fighting the Inchampalli Dam which threatens to drown out his life time's work there, despite his own age and health problems.

In his absence, it has been found that this property belonging to the Maharogi Seva Samiti has been transferred to Mr. Tulsiram Gilya and even the Award of compensation to those who will lose land by submergence via the construction of the Sardar Sarovar Project has been made out in his name!

An FIR has been filed and complaints to the Collector and police have brought no action so far.

If this can happen to a person of international repute like Baba Amte, can you imagine what is happening to the poor, illiterate people of the area ?

It is shameful that Madhya Pradesh has backed out of the "land for land rehabilitation policy" in the case of the Sardar Sarovar Dam affected nor is it even bothering to respond to people who are on indefinite fast for 20 days against the submergence without rehablitation of the Man dam affected.

The only Chief Minister who we considered the saviour of the nation , a great candidate for the chair of the Prime Minister and a person to emulate has proved to have feet of clay and a non existent conscience.It is indeed a tragedy for India.

Please act immediately.At such times, when people feel helpless , the one thought that comes to mind is - Please God, let whatever they do to the poor also happen to the perpetrators of such crimes.You are in positions to act and with a duty to do so.We eagerly await news of better times.
