The ceremony will take place in the Bruno Kiefer Room of the Mario Quintana Cultural Centre in Porto Alegre, from 2 to 4 p.m.. On the same day registration will open for delegates to the event, which should be made through the WSF web site (www.forumsocialmundial.org.br).

1. VOLUNTEER TRANSLATION INTO SPANISH
As WSF 2003 approaches, there is increasing demand for WSF documents to be translated. We are therefore forming a group of volunteer translators who either are trained in translation or have Spanish as their first language, to translate from Portuguese or English into Spanish and vice-versa. World Education Forum
Anyone interested in taking part in the 2nd edition of the WEF, to be held from January 19 to 22, 2003 in Porto Alegre can register at the web site www.forummundialdeeducacao.com.br. In September and October, the registration fee will be R$50.00, but it will be adjusted every two months. Participants living abroad can also register via the Internet, and the fee may be paid #in Porto Alegre when credentials are issued on January 19, 2003.
Next Wednesday, September 18, the WEF will be launched officially in the Porto Alegre Public Market.

FTAA
The figures of the National Plebiscite on the FTAA held throughout Brazil between September 1 and 7 will be announced in Brasilia on the 17th. During the morning, a commission of representatives of the Plebiscite coordinating body will deliver the result to United States Ambassador Donna Kinak. In the afternoon, members of the Committees from all over Brazil will march at 2 p.m. from Expo Brasilia, in the Parque da Cidade, and join up with a caravan of Landless Rural Workers arriving from Formosa, Goais State, for public audiences with the presidents of the Senate, Lower House, Federal Supreme Court and the Presidency of the Republic.
Between 3,000 and 5,000 people are expected on the march, which will close with a show by singer Beth Carvalho and the group Clube do Choro at Expo Brasilia. There, next day, there will be a people’s assembly on the new directions of the campaign with talks by jurist, Fabio Konder Comparato, Ambassador Samuel Pinheiro Guimarães, Bolivian rural workers’ and indigenous leader, Evo Morales, and the representative of the Dialogue Movement from Argentina, Berverly Keene, plus envoys from other Latin American social movements.

Meeting of Women of the Americas
As part of activities on conditions of participation, the Meeting of Women of the Americas: Towards Porto Alegre 2003, will be held in Cuenca, Ecuador, on October 25 and 26. The event is being organized by Red Latinoamericana Mujeres Transformando la Economia -REMTE- for the central purpose of making the WSF agenda known and debating it from women’s point of view.
