Laloos and Mulayams as
messiah of secularism?
 
It is really irritating and annoying when people in the name
of defending secularism either act so naïve or so cynical that one makes them
wonder what really they are trying to achieve. Lets take look at following
interview of Mr Syed Shahabuddin (not quite a secular person but still more
palatable to many secularists than RSS and other similar folks)

We haven’t heard much outcry or dissent with this interview.
Well actually Mr Shahabuddin is echoing the sentiments of many secularists.
Laloo and Mulayam have long been seen and praised as messiah of secularism.
 
But is it really the case. Examples like following are
endless and should make ashamed anyone claiming Laloos and Mulayams to be
messiahs of secularism.

Actually these
stories show something very illustrative about our fight against
communalism. This shows that we cannot trust Laloos and Mulayams of the
world to be the saviors of secularism. Be it Bombay riots or killings in
Gujrat, one of the basic reasons for the horrors being perpetrated was
Govt at the helm of affairs miserably failing in doing its basic duty, which is
protection of life and property of its citizens. Amplified anti-communalism
rhetoric of people like Laloo and Mulayam is pretty useless if they
cant maintain basic law and order for the citizens of their states and keep on
harboring the goondas spreading terror.
 
If I were a member of minority group, I would prefer
living under the protection of law and constitution enforced by a Govt
whose ideologies I might hate, rather than in a lawless land of goons.
