New Page 3 The Plight of Kanchan Mishra National womens Commission's Dr. Purnima Advani Many Hindu Groups are demanding CBI Probe in Kanchan Mishra after Bihar Police failed to Track down Kanchan Mishra and Criminal Sultan Miya . Dr.Purnima Advani gave 10 days to Bihar Police to Track down which ended on 26th December , till now there is no news . The Accused Sultan Mia is a protégé of Criminal Member of Parliament Md.Shahbuddin of Ruling Bihar 's RJD . Hindu Groups are questioning the stark silence of Secular Politicians and Personalities like Kuldip Nayyar, Arundathi Roy ,that if the Girl would have been a Muslim then whole Media and Secular Politicians whould have made Hue and Cry on the Issue. Bihar has long been known for being a land of lawlessness. This state also has the unique notoriety of seating a Chief Minister, who knows zilch about politics, her only qualification being that she was the wife of Laloo Prasad. Forced to resign after the fodder scam Laloo Prasad turned the tables on his detractors by making his wife the Chief Minister with the remote in his potent hands. The state is infamous for its nexus between criminals and politicians. Yet, what happened in Mainpura, Patna on November 10 sent shock waves throughout the world and the question being asked is "how could this happen?" Kanchan Mishra, a beautician and the mother of a 10 year old, was forcibly abducted in broad daylight from her home, taken to a nearby mosque, forcibly converted to the Muslim religion and then married at gunpoint to a notorious criminal Sultan Mia. A lavish reception followed the Nikaah and believe it or not Ejazul Haq, a minister of the RJD party accompanied by the officer in charge of the local police station were present to bless the newly wed couple. The family of the victim is running from pillar to post in their quest for justice. So far the police have not yet taken action, as it is obvious that their senior officers are hand in glove with Sultan Mian, who is said to be a protégé of RJD MP and former Indian Foreign Service officer, Shahabuddin. When India Post contacted local media personnel in Patna, they expressed the unwillingness to investigate the case for the fear of facing the wrath of the Police as well as the local mafia. There have however, been isolated reports in the Indian media but nothing substantial has been achieved. In the United States, the Correspondents of India Post have been flooded with emails. Some have expressed anger; some anguish and some eager to help. It is heartening to note that there are concerned organizations and individuals who are demanding Kanchan's freedom. Rohit Vyasmaan of Hindu Unity .org has offered a reward of a million Rupees to whoever may free Kanchan. Rohit has contacted the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Bihar and has been assured that the matter would be dealt with firmly. "HinduUnity.org is here to protect Hindus! We will see to it that Kanchan Mishra and her child are safe and free again. Once in safe hands, we will make arrangements for her to settle in U.S. We will take care of her as well as the child. This is our promise," said Rohit, speaking to India Post. Gaurang Desai, President of Friends of India Society Internation is outraged, "This truly is horrible. Where are Laloo and Mulayam and Sonia and the secular gang? I see that politicians don't really care about this Muslim terrorism. The Human Rights organizations don't give a damn either. After all, the victims are Hindus. So, they think, we deserve it. If this continues, coupled with removing Hindus from the voters list (as done in Gujarat) and attacks on charitable work, I can foresee a civil war in not so distant future." He further ads, "Many newspapers have even ignored the story. Hindu Unity has taken up the issue and all Hindus are supporting their initiative. Unfortunately, our communist leaders in US are silent on the issue." Ajay Sharma of Bihar Times who was in constant touch with India Post from Patna said that Purnima Advani, chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), rushed to Patna from New Delhi in an effort to expedite the process of finding Kanchan and returning her back to relatives. Ms Advani has warned the police officials to either deliver results or face consequences. "It's a shocking incident. The police in Bihar are hand-in-glove with the criminals. That is why such things are taking place here," she said. "I held talks with the Bihar Director General of Police R R Prasad, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Patna Zone, Ashish Ranjan Sinha, Senior Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar and other police officials on the incident and asked them to recover Kanchan Mishra within ten days." Ms Advani was rightfully critical of the apathetic approach of the State Government towards the case. "It is not only the police but the entire State administration and Rabri Devi Government get the blame for this sordid episode," she said. The Bihar government led by Rabri Devi has done absolutely nothing in apprehending the criminal, Sultan Mian nor has taken any action against the erring politicians and corrupt police officials. A month has gone by since the abduction while Kanchan continues to suffer the horrors of living with a criminal and a religion, which is alien to her. Advani who visited Patna receiving a complaint from Kanchan Mishra's mother, Sachita Devi has already left for New Delhi after giving a 10-day ultimatum to the Police officials to recover Kanchan Mishra. The police trying a cover up are believed to have said that Kanchan married Sultan Mian on her own free will. They informed the NCW that Kanchan had called her mother on November 6 The police tried to convince the Commission on Tuesday that Kanchan had married Sultan Miya on her own accord. A police official told the Commission members that Kanchan had called up her mother on November 12, two days after her disappearance, and informed her about the marriage and requested that her child be brought to her. Kanchan's mother strongly denied the statement of the police officials saying that she was completely unaware about her daughter's whereabouts. Angry Niraj Sinha, a resident of US says, "In our culture, women are praised like a goddess. They are thought to bring development and prosperity to the society. They must be respected. But the scenario today is very frustrating." "The situation becomes worst when we learnt that those criminals were patronized by politicians and ministers. If the so-called leader of the masses behaves in such an irresponsible manner, what else remains to be said? Under such circumstances if the brothers or husband of the concerned woman join any extremist group, then it is the government to be blamed. Mrs. Kanchan should be released at the earliest and Sultan Mian should be brought to justice and punished in such a way that no one dares to repeat the act in the future." Prithviraj Singh, past President of Federation of Hindu Association is agitated over the incident too. "The law and order situation is such that criminas are going free. Can you imagine anything like this happening in Pakistan? Our Hindu people are responsible for such incidents. India has not allowed true secularism. This is a result of being over-protective of the minority and its appeasement. A common civil code should be imposed on the community. The minority groups in India are simply pampered because of the vote bank. Now they have become courageous and you see what's happening now. The majority is frustrated. This is what happened in Gujarat. I strongly feel women world in India must get together, protest and take the hell out of the parliament. What was the lady's fault anyway".
