Advani Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India South block, Central Secretariat New Delhi 5/5/2003 Subject: -- Dereliction of duty and complicity of the police officials in the assault and battery of peaceful activists by goons of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal Dear Advani ji, I'm writing to you to complain about the shameful incident yesterday which illustrates how close we are to a fascist state. When large contingents of police stand as mute spectators as goons and thugs of the Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad armed with lathis set on and beat up our unarmed peace activists who are just standing peacefully with placards, it surely conjures up visions of Nazi Germany when storm troopers of the Nazi party roamed around freely in broad daylight beating up dissenters and protesters in full view of the police which stood by and watched. Is this what India is coming to? Is this what history will credit you with? To have precided over a police force which colludes with gangs of lumpens who go about belabouring peaceful citizens. I am attaching a copy of today’s story in the Hindu with a photograph which tells its own story. Vimalbhai (who is a colleague from the National Alliance of People’s movements) and two women activists, Gayatri Arya (a writer) and Durgeshini Upadhyaya (an MBA student) had gone with a few placards (which said, “Trishul nahi rozgar chahiye”, “Talwar nahi, pyar”, “ Jihad nahi dharmyudh nahi”, “Aman, ekta, shiksha chahiye”) to stand peacefully near the site of Togadia’s Trishul Diksha programme near the Coffee home on Vikas Marg. As soon as they unrolled the placards near the coffee home, they were set upon and Vimal was badly beaten up with lathis by goons of the Bajrang Dal and VHP who were there. Dozens of policemen who were standing right there also with lathis did not do anything to stop this crime being committed in broad daylight. This is clear from the photograph published in the Hindu. What is equally disquieting is the fact that the police (of Preet Vihar PS) also refused to register an FIR of a cognizable offence u/s 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) which had clearly been committed. They wrote a report (copy enclosed) and said that no cognisable offence has been committed. Is this the India that you would like to create? A State where thugs of organizations allied to the ruling party can freely roam around terrorizing innocent, peaceful and unarmed citizens with the complicity of the police and the State apparatus? I am sure you realize that such States cannot survive for long and will inevitably degerate towards anarchy. Mr. Togadia was granted conditional bail by the Rajasthan Court on the condition that he would not repeat his offences. It appears to me that his actions and speech at the Trishul Diksha function yesterday amount to repeating the offences for which he was arrested and violate the conditions of his bail. Will the Delhi Police presided over by you remain mute spectators to all this? I call upon you Sir, to take immediate steps to restore the rule of law in this country. The minimum that is required for this would be to identify, suspend and take disciplinary action against the police officials who stood by and watched this crime being committed. Some of them can be easily identified from the photographs. Action should also be taken against the officers who refused to register the FIR. Secondly, an FIR u/s 324 of the IPC must immediately be ordered to be registered and the investigation handed over to senior, competent and independent police officials. Thirdly Mr. Togadia must be arrested for having repeated the offences for which he was arrested in Rajasthan and for violating the conditions of his bail. 14 killed in West Bengal panchayat poll violence

Fourteen people, including seven CPI (M) activists, were killed in clashes between rival political groups as widespread violence and snatching of ballots on Sunday marred panchayat polls in West Bengal even as an estimated 65 per cent of voters exercised franchise.
Among those killed were two women activists of SUCI, besides two Congress activists and the father of a Trinamool Congress candidate, DIG of Police (HQ) NC Ghosh said.
He said two SUCI women activists were killed at Joynagar and two CPI (M) worker at Canning in poll clashes in South 24 Parganas district.
Father of Trinamool Congress candidate Lutfar Rahman for Khamarpara Panchayat Samity Haji Anwar Ali was shot dead at his home in Madanpur in Barasat in North 24 Parganas, he said.
In Sibdaspur, also in North 24 Parganas, CPI (M) supporter Sheikh Salim was killed in a poll related clash. There was no polling in the area till noon following the incident, Ghosh said.
Another CPI (M) activist was killed in Jalpaiguri district and a Congress worker at Thalarpur in Nadia district, he said.
At Murshidabad, two CPI (M) supporters were killed when they clashed with Congress activists while Congress supporter Manirul Sheikh was killed at Ranitala when bombs were hurled at people waiting to cast their ballots in front of two booths, he said.
State Electoral Officer Ajay Sinha said an estimated 65 per cent of the electorate cast their votes and the figure would go up as people were in queue inside booths after the close of polling at 5.00 pm.

You are confusing the discussion. We are all aware
of muslim fundamentalists (jihadis) who use totally
unacceptable violence, which is not self-defence.
But attacking peaceful protestors has nothing to
do with stopping jihadi violence.

So are you saying that you propose violence against

facts, and if people have different sources of
information on what happened, then they should
provide this counter-information. Repeating slogans
and generalisations is not providing useful

The world belongs to everyone living in it. We have different ideologies and viewpoints. Can we not express without using abusive words?
If there is a Police brutality i.e. Police connivance at suppressing dissent, this should be condemned. Mob rule is jungle rule where no one is safe.
India can be a beacon for civilised debate and dissent. Pandit Nehru and those who fought for independence would be proud if we tolerate dissent and express our views politely.
Comming to massacre at Kerala, it is very sad that such things should happen. Police agencies should try to apprehend the culprits and everyone should restrain their fury because it does not help at all. Criminals, whoever, they are should be punished. We should not jump to conclusion.

Why do most of the muslims try to rape innocent and helpless women and children???? I'm a doctor in a Kashmir village, I treated somany rape victims who were raped by Muslims. I mean I have seen as little as 1 yr old baby girl, tears rolled over my cheeks. Some women were gang raped by Islamic militents. They do not have heart. They are such a gross animals who deserve to die. I have seen with my own eyes a muslim militent pig running his hands over a little girl while her parents are looking helplessly. I demand their penises should be cut and their seed should be stopped from spreading. I wish a deadly virus should attack these pigs and die.
