The Incident took place in ‘Margundi’ a small hilly town in Chickmangalur District of Karnataka which is famous for Coffee Estates all over. It has a Population of 4,000 People.
On 2nd June morning around 10 A.M, when Umesh was with his friends at a Coffee shop, suddenly of Group of over 80 Muslim who had come in 5 different vehicles pounced on Umesh and forcibly dragged him into their vehicle. Umesh was taken to the Main city Bus Stand Circle, where public movement is more. The Injured Umesh was stripped of his clothes and was tied to the Flag Post in the Main Circle of the Town. Within no time the entire town was at the circle watching helplessly at Umesh.
The Local Muslims who were over one Thousand in numbers enjoyed every moment of it. Their leaders asked all the Muslims to come and punish Umesh by themselves, which all the Muslims including Men, Women and Children did by hitting the innocent with their chappals, few even went to the extent of making Umesh drink Urine.
Despite giving all this torture, this cruel People were not satisfied, they paraded Umesh in the entire town on a Donkey with a Garland of Chappals shoes and Dung around his shoulders and all over his body. As the Evil People went into different areas, they kept warning each and every Hindu of the Town of the Consequences who raise a voice against them. Umesh was unconscious after a brutal torture for over 6 hours, He was thrown out of the town with nobody to attend him for next two days. Few passerby People who noticed Umesh in the Jungles Immediately rushed Umesh to the Local Hospital in Chickmangalur with Multiple Injuries all over his body. The condition of Umesh was very critical he died in the hospital a week later.
The Police, who had filed a F.I.R against 300 Muslims, had arrested 15 of them for their direct involment. The Suspects who were arrested by the Police were ordered to be released by the Local M.L.A AND Karnataka Law Minister D.B.CHANDRE GOWDA.
The Local residents say that Chandre Gowda is a close Friend of Mohammed Ayub and it is he who funds for Chandre Gowda during the time of election.
Our Demands
· We call for the immediate setting up of an independent and impartial judicial enquiry into the cause of the public execution and the Karnataka governments inability to maintain law and order. We further demand that the commissions findings be publicly disclosed as soon as possible.
· We demand immediate arrest and prosecution of the criminals involved in this incidence.
· We call for immediate assistance to the boy family who was tortured to death.
· We call upon the immediate dismissal of the police commissioner of the area where this tragic incidence took place.
· We call upon the resignation of Karnataka chief minister Mr. SM Krishna & Law minister Chandra Govda.
· We demand that POTA be applied to all the criminals who participated in this act of violence.
