Kochi; 2003 October 23rd The recent verdict of the Supreme Court that Women can be taken in to police custody even at night and even in the absence of women constables is not only a naked violation of the natural justice and attack on culture, but also turns a blind eye to the shocking state of affairs that prevail in our country pointed out Smt. Shyla K. John State Secretary AIMSS. She was inaugurating the protest march to the Kerala High Court
organized by AIMSS to condemn the recent verdict of the Supreme Court. When even the laws that are in force fails to protect the women from the atrocities and sexual assault on them by the men on uniform on women, such a verdict will only encourage the criminal tendencies
in them She added.
