Dr, G Laxman, President of Andhra Predesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) has been kidnapped by Andhra Pradesh Police at 9.15 PM local time on 6th November, 2004 from nearby his house in the Osmania University campus in Hyderabad. The police in the disguise of a?private armed gang calling themselves Thirumala Tigers announced an hour later that they kidnapped Dr. Laxman pressing for the release of Siraj, a renegade who was presented before the press a day before by the CPI (ML) Peoples War.

The police cowed down Siraj for conducting covert operations to kill the leaders of Peoples War and he was used as an instrument of a covert operation about a month ago to kill a senior leader of people's war, Obulesu in Nalgonda District in the name of an encounter killing. The police in the guise of a private armed group issued a threat to kill Dr.
Laxman if Siraj is not released by the Peoples War.

Dr. Laxman is a reader in Osmania University and has been working in the civil berties organisation for the last 20 years.

He hails from a dalit family from a backward district called
Mahaboobnagar in Andhra Predesh. He is a well-known teacher in Osmania University and has no relations Peoples War. As an enlightened teacher of a University he has been working for the cause of human rights in a state where the human rights violations are taking place in most dastardly way
every day.

Please kindly send protests and demand to release Dr Laxman to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu whose Government is notorious for lynching the well-Known leaders of the civil liberties and human rights organisations in the past 8 years. There is an immediate
threat to the life of Dr. Laxman. In the past few years Purushotham and Azam Ali of APCLC were killed most brutally by the same police forces in with similar names of private armed groups.
