From the kharia website:
The language and cultural issue of Jharkhand is in troubled waters due to forced Colonial cultural values and the negligence of the Government. Even after innumerable Governmental Declarations for its development, the question of the study of Tribal and Indigenous languages in Primary schools, its use in the Government Offices, its Constitutional recognition, and the question of the development of a scientific script are the biggest problems plaguing the development of the Tribal and Indigenous Languages.

From a paper on Tribal Women by
Sabrina Fernandes:

Tribal women in India tend to have more rights than their Hindu counterparts. The absence of the dowry system means that dowry death and brideburning have been totally absent. Women have the right to marry when they are mature and to divorce and remarry if the marriage doesn’t work out. But acculturation to Hindu society has meant changes to tribal tradition. “Development” has contributed to earlier marriages and less power for women.

Due to poor education or an altogether lack of education and a low position in the Indian social hierarchy, these groups still suffer from problems of isolation and oppression. Deforestation has drastically impacted tribal, or adavasi, lifestyles.
