"LISTEN TO WHAT THE RIVER IS SAYING"
The first major theatre production of Samvedan Cultural Programme "Suno nadi kya kehti hai" (in Hindi) deals with the struggles of the riverfront urban poor to be ousted by the (riverfront development) beautification project to make way for recreation and shopping for the urban rich.
The play, based on the real-life situation of slumdwellers residing on the river banks of Sabarmati in Ahmedabad, looks at the culture of the urban poor and their struggles to resist displacement, globalization, gender-bias and rising communal fascism. The play is of 2 hours duration conveying the message of resisting globalization and combating communalism.
