Open Letter to His Majesty?s Government of Nepal on the WTO Accession:

The presidents of the United States and the European Union, represented by the WTO, IMF and World Bank, and representing the multinational corporations and banks of the world, solemnly congratulate you for handing over Durga's sword and the sacred trust given through it by the peoples of Nepal, as symbolized by solemn sacrifices given her each Dasai.

Profound thanks, furthermore, from European and American agro-business corporations and the banks controlling and financing them, driven to vastly over produce grains and other commodities by direct subsidies of 40% of the value of their crops ("decoupled from production" and thus not affected by the WTO rules that are going to be fastened onto Nepal's agriculture), who are desperately in need of new markets to exploit.

Thank you for submitting to controls over your labor and your environment, and for benevolently donating to the Goddess of Power your rights to knowledge, control over your genetic material, control over flows of finance capital, autonomy of your markets and choices in your social and economic development.

Thank you furthermore for submitting to the enlightened governance of the representatives of a small group of developed nations making decisions for you through "consensus" in the back rooms of the WTO.

Hail, hail Durga! Hail to her new kings! May the sacrifices begin!
