We, on behalf of the Indian people, hail with heartfelt feelings, the heroic resistance of the patriotic Iraqi people all through this period of the recent past, against the forceful occupation of Iraq by the US imperialists along with the British and other capitalist-imperialist countries toeing them. No sooner than a year has passed round from the day Baghdad fell in the hands of aggressors, that the armed resistance and the guerilla warfare has mounted to an extent that has unnerved and perplexed not only the allied countries, but even their ring-leader, the US imperialists themselves. Furious to regain their ‘prestige’ as a ‘mighty occupier turned saviour’, the Bush administration is hopelessly groping for the way out. All their efforts to bomb out the rebels and terrorize the population with cruel oppression, have proven futile. On the contrary, notwithstanding tremendous suffering and loss of life at the hands of foreign occupiers and their local henchmen, and defeating the heinous conspiracy of the Bush administration to bring about disunity of the Iraqis on communal basis, the freedom-loving Iraqi people at large is rising united and resolute to fight to the last. We, on behalf of the Indian people, express our strongest solidarity with the Iraqis in their fight against imperialists and submit our deepest sympathy for the heavy toll they are taking upon themselves to achieve their end. We know, we are not alone. The toiling, oppressed people of the whole world are at one with us to stand by the Iraqis in their just struggle for freedom and end of oppression.
We strongly demand that the US imperialists must immediately withdraw from Iraq all troops of their own and their allies or even under the banner of the UN. National security of Iraq or maintenance of law and order there, are the concerns of the people of that country and must be left to them.
We condemn the unlawful arrest of Saddam Hussain, the acclaimed Head of a state and demand of the Bush administration that his present whereabouts be made public and he be released at the earliest.
At the same time, we demand of the Indian Government not to consider any proposal to send troops to Iraq as soon as the parliamentary election in the country may be over. The recent joint Indo-US exercise in the jungles of Mizorum, to combat guerilla warfare, is an indication of this conspiracy. Westrongly denounce this move. Also make it clear to Indian Government that such an act will definitely go against the will and spirit of the Indian people, who has a long tradition of anti-imperialist struggle.
Long live Iraqi people’s united heroic resistance struggle against US imperialists and their allies!
Long live solidarity and unity of toiling people of the world with the struggling Iraqi people!
