| SUCI critical of CPI(M), CPI support to Cong-led Govt
By Hindustan Times - May 17,2004 28/05/2004 At 10:23 People have to once again fall back upon the course of powerful democratic mass movements centering around the burning problems Criticising the CPI(M) and CPI for supporting the formation of a Congress-led government at the Centre, left opposition party Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) on Monday said that these two parties were becoming 'instrumental' in sustaining 'exploitative class rule' in the country.
SUCI said with the formation of a Congress-led government, 'the long standing desire of the ruling class to foist a two-party system' to sustain its exploitative class rule , will gather momentum. Gradually, this will eventually pave the way towards bringing in administrative fascism.
"Clearly, the CPI(M), CPI, by supporting the Congress, are becoming instrumental in working out this sinister design," the SUCI Central Committee said.
It said the people should not expect any relief from this government. "They will have to once again fall back upon the course of powerful democratic mass movements centering around the burning problems .....And they need to be on a constant vigil and keep themselves prepared for joining the course of democratic mass movements."
The party alleged that the 'nefarious' game played by the 'pseudo-leftist parties' would be tantamount to 'helping perpetuation' of the oppressive capitalist class rule.

I think supporting congress lead coalition is better than allowing BJP to come to power again.At least CPM, CPI and left parties could force the government to abolish pota.
SUCI talks a lot does does little. They always talk about mass movements but never they get mass support.
I think SUCI will not be there in the political scene even in West bengal after 5 to 10 years.
I think subbu is wrong. CPM will follow CPI. A party with leaders only no supporters.
SUCI is growing steadily. Inch by Inch. You will not read from mass media much about SUCI.
In peoples movement SUCI has won the heart of millions.
What happened with Save education movement for reintroduction of English ? Why the Big brother has to
kneel before the public pressure ?
If more votes that counts then it is congress and BJP are better. In communal politics BJP plays an open game
Congress more subtle game. Even CPM is not far behind congress.

I don't know how much truth is there in the statement that SUCI is growing steadily, inch by inch. SUCI now is not what they were before. They had correct ideology and dedicated workers during the days of their founder leader Shibdas Ghosh. As usually happenes in the history after his demise his followers were not able to keep the standards set by him.
May be SUCI has got some steangth in West Bengal. All other places , I think they are just group of a few leaders. I heard even in west bengal their base is eroding.
