Now that Sonia Gandhi has installed Dr Manmohan Singh as the new PM, what is her game plan? She has not given up power or politics; she has only given up the prime ministership. She continues to be the powerful Congress president and chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP). This is a new position created by her after changing the constitution of the party. It puts her in a higher position than Dr Manmohan Singh within the party, who is merely the leader of the CPP.
With Gandhi's decision to leave the gaddi for Dr Singh, the party president's position will become more powerful than that of even the prime minister. Doubts are being raised whether there will be two power centers. Dr Manmohan Singh, soon after coming out of Rashtrapati Bhavan with his appointment letter in hand, pointed out that the mandate was for Gandhi, and that she had graciously nominated him.
The Congress party too had made it obvious that Sonia Gandhi is the supreme commander by changing the party constitution and making her the chairperson of the Parliamentary Party. In fact, Dr Singh was nominated by Sonia and not elected by the CPP, as is the usual practice. The Congress is also making much about where she would sit in the Lok Sabha. Normally, the prime minister is the Leader of the House and sits in the seat marked number one. Number two is usually vacant and the senior-most minister sits in number three. When there is a Deputy Prime Minister, he occupies the seat number two. So it is going to be a piquant situation on the seating arrangement.
Sonia's eligibility to be an MP
Now the slogan is: rajmata. Why aren't the Congress questioning Sonia's eligibility to be an MP? Why aren't the Marxists questioning Sonia having power without responsibility? The opinion should be asked for and the issue settled once and for all that only Indian-born citizens can hold offices under the Constitution, including that of MP, Chairperson of CPP, Panchayat President, and Municipal Councilor. It is ridiculous to leave this absurd situation of Sonia being the Chairperson of CPP with the empowered authority to nominate a PM from her party and Manmohan as leader of the CPP. There cannot be one PM with accountability and another acting as a proxy or substitute or surrogate. It is unlikely this government will be blessed with a trouble-free initiation. With the Left at the wheels of decision-making, the opposition cannot afford to put off the fight for even a single day. The battle against national humiliation and the battle against the Left has to go hand in hand.

What are the ways by which BJP and NDA allies can turn the system around and make it worthwhile for right-thinking individuals to join politics, not as a profession, but as a service, in the service of the Nation. Not the type of service, Lalu wants to render with fodder scam types and with proxy CMs.
It is patently foolish on the part of the Congress to try to foist Sonia Gandhi as India’s Prime Minister. She is not India’s choice as has been made out by some interested parties. She is the party’s choice and that does not automatically bestow on Sonia Gandhi the right to claim Prime Ministership even if it is conceded that the Congress happens to be the single largest party elected in the 2004 general elections.
How can anyone have any faith in a party, which depends so completely on one person? The myth that Sonia Gandhi represents the hearts of all Indians was devastatingly disproved the day word went round that she had accepted her party’s nomination of Prime Ministership when the market crashed to an extent no one ever imagined. According to one estimate the loss was to the extent of Rs. 1,25,00 crores.
So large and quick was the fall that market authorities first halted trading for one hour as the Sensex fell by over 550 points and tumbled still further by another 232 points when trading was resumed. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange plummeted to 1306 after losing 276 points. The market showed signs of recovery only after Sonia Gandhi emphatically announced that she was not going to accept the Prime Ministership.
What does that show? Does that show the country’s faith whether in Congress or Sonia Gandhi? The market is more worldly-wise than Sonia Gandhi’s sycophants. The catch word all along is “secularism” and the Congress has arrogated to itself that virtue. Since when has Congress been `secular? It has always played the caste game to perfection during every election. The line between communalism and casteism is very thin as anybody can tell. But for Congress to arrogate to itself secular virtues is a bit too much.
If the Congress was all that secular how come Jinnah got away with the Muslim League? Jinnah never accepted the Congress claim that it was secular insisting that it was primarily a Hindu party. The so-called Nationalist Muslims amounted to hardly anything. But even more sad is the fact that the Congress is depending upon the Communists to govern. Does Sonia Gandhi have any inkling of the Communist past? Does she know, for instance, that during the 1942 Quit India movement the Communists got hundreds of Congressmen arrested, jailed and tortured and some killed?
Does Sonia Gandhi know that the Communists were among the first to support the Two-Nation Theory and bolster the Muslim League? The Communists happily supported India’s partition. And if Sonia Gandhi now feels that the erstwhile enemies of her party are now her ardent supporters, she is welcome to her delusions. She thinks that the Communists are “secular” whatever that means. If secularism means abetting communalism, the Communists’ claim makes hilarious sense.

In this election, “Sanjhee Wirasat Trust” carried out covert advertising campaign intended to benefit congress party, claiming it to be in the interest of the public, but in fact such campaigns were against the NDA party. There many such Trusts or non-government organizations who carried out campaign against NDA party. “Sanjhee Wirasat Trust” is a notorious Trust, which have trustees like Kuldeep Naiyaar, Prabhas Joshi, Nirmala Despande and many others who have anti- Hindu views. The article by Sheila Reddy in the Outlook magazine makes for very sick reading. It shows p-secs in their true colours: anti-nationals who have no sense of swa_bhima_n. They are behaving the way the communists behaved during the British colonial regime. For the communists and p-secs, swara_jyam has no meaning. They will have no problems selling the nation. With worms like these, we need no colonials or Italian-born people to rule Bharat.
Once Indira Gandhi won the election on the slogan “Garibi Hatao” but the Grabibi is still prevailing in Bharat, after about 35 years when the slogan was first raised.
Role of Anti- Hindu media in Election
The view that elections are a kind of think-in or gigantic, coast-to-coast town hall is media romanticism. Principally, it's an expression of media self-interest since newspapers; TV networks and the rest spend enormous amounts during election campaigns (many TV channels and the other networks have their own buses and correspondents) and need to justify the outlay by some higher cause than macho competitiveness, which is what it mostly is.
This doesn't mean that elections don't matter. It's enormously important that those in power can be brought to account periodically. The system gets aerated: even if it only means heaving out one set of rascals in order to replace them with another set of rascals; the new rascals will still be less rascally, for a time at least.
Nor does it mean that elections are only about choosing who will wear the captain's gold braid on the bridge of the Titanic. At times, media do give instructions and give biased news and write biased articles for influencing the public mood and for supporting a particular party.
If elections are as empty as this, is our democracy also empty? Not at all. Year in, year out, we express ourselves through interest groups, or through the inchoate but powerful force of public opinion as it makes itself felt every which way from letters to the editor to conversations over the backyard fence.
Those who don't vote will still be making an important political statement. In essence, they will be protesting the way our elections have become so empty of meaning, other than for the interchange of rascals. (Some, of course, will just be lazy.) About how to address that challenge, so that we both heave in a new set of rascals and give them directions on where to go, there is just one obvious point to make. But many elections are now a ritual with little greater effect upon our politics than the summertime, ceremonial changing of the guard on Parliament House. Real politics starts after the election.

It has become fashionable among english media people to indulge in Hindu bashing in the name of liberalism and secularism. Eversince BJP emerged as a force in national politics, and especially after Gujarat riots, anti-Hindu propagandas has intensified.
As if ignoring Hindu suffering is not enough, English media often portray them as perpetrators of the crime. Hindu refugees from Jammu an Kashmir are often portrayed as economic refugees if at all they get any mention, on the other hand victims of Godhara carnage are denounced as Hindu fundamentalists who deserve death. Subsequent Gujarat riots witnessed Media completely ignoring brutal killings of hundreds of Hindus.
When it comes to proving secular credentials, English media spares no instutions of the country. Credibility of institutions like Indian army and courts of justice has already suffered considerably because of such mindless criticism. It is childish to think this will affect only Sangh Parivar. It besmirches the entire Hindu community and hence India, which the world views it as a Hindu country. It will benefit none when international community puts India in the same league as Pakistan or Bangladesh, but unfortunately that is what precisely happening nowadays.
Therefore as inheritors of a great culture and tolerant religion, tolerant people request you not to indulge in the shortsighted policy of Hindu bashing for short term benefits.
What are the steps that BJP and other nationalist organizations should take to convert the Congress people to start thinking about the nation, beyond the blind adherence to the dynasty of the white people and appeasing of minorities? BJP and other patriotic organisations have a gigantic task ahead; the party should reach out to every village and explain the true nature of Congress politics and about the dynasty. And, set up a BJP unit in every village. Is BJP equal to the task?
