Calcutta 5 June 2004. Peoples over the world have been experiencing especially in the recent few years that imperialism, which inevitably generates war and commits barbarous and ferocious aggression on smaller and weaker countries with a view to establishing and maintaining their domination over the global market in order to stave off their acute economic crisis, also transgresses all norms of humanity and democracy to suppress any opposition or resistance which aims at regaining freedom and sovereignty from the clutches of imperialism.

The cruel oppression of freedom-loving people of Afghanistan or Haiti by the warmonger US imperialism, aided by their local henchmen are among the recent examples. But the barbarity has reached its height in the shameless beastly treatment of the Iraqi prisoners by the occupying coalition forces of US and UK imperialism in Iraq and in the mindless, albeit designful killings of the Palestinian people by the Zionist Israel in Rafah refugee camp with overt and covert patronization from US imperialism.

In total response to the US-based anti-imperialist organization ANSWER's call and with unflinching fraternity and solidarity with the struggling peoples of Iraq, Palestine and elsewhere, the West Bengal State Committee of the All India Anti-imperialist Forum organized a protest march to the American Centre in Calcutta today, the 5th June 2004. With colourful festoons and posters and raising spirited slogans condemning these unspeakable war crime, crime against humanity, justice and peace, the march started from Raja Subodh Mullick Square in the afternoon and ended in a demonstration before the American Centre. Effigies of George Bush and Ariel Sharon were burnt at the rally
