Giant blades slash rainclouds, allege protesters, govt experts prepare for
study trip abroad"
Don Quixote has come alive, this time!
Another case of demagoguy- belief superceding knowledge or wisdom.
How long must this be allowed to continue?
Even if all wind at the height of 30 Metres were converted into electricity,
it would be an infinitesimal proportion of the energy carried by the same
wind current. However, the fact that the speed of wind leaving the propeller
is practically of the same as that hitting it shows clearly that it is a
negligible per cent of the total wind energy being tapped by any windmill.
This fact needs to be communicated intelligently and effectively.
By their logic, the heat in the heads of these great men is actually
boiling away the clouds and when one of them lights a beedi over his
village, all Mumbai-bound aircrafts should get lost in its smoke cloud!
Where is the great Saksharata achievement? Where is the "scientific temper" to be brought in by our science & tech mission?
One is reminded of a joke in the 60s, about the Bhakhra-Nangal dam and
others in the 60s were being built, one heard jokes about a food minister
from a certain community claiming that the crop failed that year because of
the power being removed from the river. Litttle did one know that with 40
years of "progress" this would be the level of public intellect and this
would be the level of support for this foolishness.
The fact that so-called qualified people are giving so much legitimacy
itself shows that people are more intersted in making a constituency of a
semi-literate peasant's question's physics-without-maths question, than in
answering it.
