American English wants to be more simple,but it were only a more childish form of English.Next to this not even any American knows the American spelling correctly,for it is unnatural.
America ought ot not be followed culturally because of its military power,for culture and the military do not go together well.America is too arrogant,and its power has risen at he expense of international good taste.
Other nations may have been responsable for this as well,but this does not justify decline.
