Police which always arrests and harasses ordinary people, has now turned against the religious don in Tamilnadu. although the real motive behind the arrest is not known, Kanchi Shankaracharya who has always been a good friend of Jayalalita, the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu was arrested on the diwali night by the Tamilnadu Police on a murder case as the prime suspect.

Except the hindutva and brahminical forces, others have either welcomed the arrest or kept silent.

Hindu hardliners called for a shutdown (banth) through out the country, but it got very diluted response from the people. In fact the people of Tamilnadu are quite busy as usual in their lives.

But the stories are coming out. It appears that Kanchi Shankaracharya has ordered some goons to murder his then manager(sub-ordinate), who questioned the boss's extravagant life style. Eventually, the manager Sankararaman, who is also a brahmin was murdered in his office in september.

People started protesting against the inaction of the police suspecting the involvement Kanchi in the murder.

After severe protests and rallies in Kanchipuram, the so called holy town of hindus, police have arrested Kanchi Shankaracharya in Andhra Pradesh, when he was allegedly planning to escape to Nepal, the only hindu state in the world.

Now that Shankaracharya is arrested, people are expecting law to take its own course and justice to prevail.
