Kanchi Sankaracharya Vijeyendra Saraswati is arrested again on another attempt to murder case while he was in jail on a another murder case as the prime suspect.

When his followers and hindutva leaders are trying to create a havoc in this country by evoking communal feelings, it came as an embarassment to all.

As things come out, Vijeyendra Saraswati behaved and functioned like a thug threatening people, attacking them and allegedly even killing one.

But the hindutva leaders like Advani, Togadia and Singhal demand the state government of Tamilnadu to give him special treatment. Because he is a religious leader. Because he has a following.

I differ them in two points.

firstly Sankaracharya does not have a following. he is not a mass leader.he is always a brahmin (upper caste)leader, rather than a hindu leader. If a dalit leader has been arrested, we could have witnessed a popular revolt from the people. If a political leader has been arrested that would have got a different reaction from the people.

secondly no body is above the law.

But his arrest is a symbolic victory for the anti-brahminical ideology.

Tamilnadu government has taken a bold step. The investigation should be done with at the most care and professinalism. So that the breaking down that has started would succeed.
