At the call of All Bengal Electricity Consumers' Association, millions of people overcoming all threats by the CPI(M) goons, boycotted electric light from 6 to 6.30 P.M.on 25th November, to protest against steep hike in power tariff. The whole of state plunged into a pitch darkness. This is a new form of agitation in the history of democratic mass movement.

The SUCI gave full support to this boycott and included this in the array of programmes of movements following the historic bandh. Under pressure of movement the government has announced slashing of duty on electricity.
