The support and solidarity you have given to me/us really kept us alive here. I am, in fact, very much excited at the moment because the Internet services have been restored after a week. I am actually checking emails after a week amidst the prevailing confusion about what will happen next here. In fact, all the things except Internet and landline telephones are still in mess.

The situation in Nepal is not normal. The king has imposed dictatorial rule. So, u can guess the situation we are working in these days.

Censorship on press is still in place and it seems it will go on for at least another six months. But I don't see any improvements even after that. We are running a story today about uncertain future of over 1000 radio journalists, and their layoffs.

Three days back, General Secretary of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (Bishnu Nisthuri) was arrested and its president (Tara Nath Dahal) has now taken refuge in the UN Office in Kathmandu. And, many other journalists have gone into hiding. If the authorities knew about my first mail i wrote to the group about Nepal's situation, I would already be behind bars.

Almost all prominent political leaders are either under house arrest or have been detained. One of the leaders of the Nepali Congress said in an interview to BBC Monday that they may join hands with Maoists to unseat the king. The largest party, CPN-UML (which was in the dissolved government), has decided to go underground. Networks of all the political parties have been dismantled so they have not been able to coordinate. Maybe, they will come up with substantial mass movement soon after all the communications are restored.

We are very thankful to Indian government, media and other prominent personalities for rallying support for restoration of democratic practices in Nepal. Our friends in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the UK, the USA are equally thankful. Still we should work hard to restore normalcy here.

All landlines have been restored from today. But, it seems mobile services won't be restored for another couples of months.

There are 100s of mails in each of four mailboxes i use everyday. Hence, that's all for now.

With Warm regards
