The Movement of India
News Magazine of National Alliance of People’s Movements

Dear friends,

Attached, kindly see the PDF version of The Movement of India [MoI]. Before confusing you further, let’s clarify that MoI is the new name of The People’s Movement. While securing registration for the magazine, we had to compromise on the name.

The attached MoI would tell it all. Our ‘shoestrings’ are too tight!! We are sending SOS far and wide. Kindly go through the appended appeal. We know that many of you are already subscribers and have helped us. However if you haven’t yet, as they say, here is the opportunity – do it, here and now.

Unlike some emails, you will not get anything if you forward this to 10 of your friends, who may help a cause like this. Nor anything would happen to you if you delete this. You can try either of it…. or both!!

With regards,

Editorial Team

Read on…

National Alliance of People’s Movement (NAPM) is a network of over two hundred people’s movements in India with a commitment to a development paradigm based on equity, simple living and self reliance, with true internationalism and an ideology against corporate globalisation, casteism, religious fundamentalism and discrimination of any kind. NAPM brings together struggles of various marginalized sections and reconstruction works on alternatives into an intersectoral alliance asserting people’s right to life and livelihood, and primacy to community ownership of natural resources.

Started since January 2004, the bi-monthly news magazine, The Movement of India, carried news, perspectives, analysis, critique and review of/on diverse subjects. A few of the topics we handled during the past over one-year were:

March-April 2004: Politics, Elections and People’s Movement

May-June 2004: The Noose of Global Lenders

July-August 2004: The People and the New Regime

Sept-Oct 2004: Water Politics

Nov-Dec 2004: Corporate Irresponsibility

January-February 2005: Union Budget

March-April 2005: Right to Shelter vs Right to Demolish

The publication has evolved as a medium for the new, dynamic and creative churning throughout the country and elsewhere. It is essentially journalistic, a newsmagazine for people’s movements and issues, a reflection of real and dynamic contemporary India, which is being neglected – deliberately or otherwise - ridiculed and jeered at by the glossy corporate media.

We call upon friends of people’s movements to subscribe and/or make a donation towards The Movement of India.
