LDaneman@aol.com While studying American law, I discovered two U.S. Supreme Court cases that allow denial of First Amendment freedoms of Speech and Religion, if those freedoms are abused in an imminently dangerous way in a time of war.
Since Islamic fundamentalists declared war and visited serious destruction and death upon American soil, the source of teachings of Islamic Jihad, the Quran and Hadiths, are now vulnerable to strict scrutiny of our highest courts.
Mr. Chopra's has written brilliantly 'Calcutta Quran Petition' and if released in print in America with a forward by a legal expert discussing application of valid American law and its logical conclusion; an injunction against the printing and distribution of the Quran and relatedteachings.
Please let me know your thoughts and considerations on this matter. I am not doing this for profit, but as a contribution to this war in our land, in the Middle East, and along your borders.

Mr. Chopra's 'Calcutta Quran Petition'
Mr. Chopra's 'Calcutta Quran Petition' is an excellent document and should be reprinted and distributed widely. His criticism of Christianity through writings of Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson is also noteworthy.
However, what Mr. Chopra failed to find was a critical, yet little-known essential element of the Christian religion, which can only be related best as Christ being an Avatar.
The early American experience was based on the Protestant Reformation which was a departure, if you will, from the Roman Catholic Church which was promulgated by Emperor Constantine as a result of a 300 year bloodless
(except for martryed Christians) coup by Christian teachings over the pagan Roman Empire.
Protestant reformists translated the Old and New Testaments into the common language, thus challenging Rome's head-lock on Christian teaching. Indeed, the conflict between the Protestant Reformists and Roman Catholicism was the only Christian induced atrocity not induced directly, or indirectly, by the Moslem incursions into Europe.
To conclude, what Paine and Jefferson protested was a departure from Catholocism in favor of Deism. In short, they agreed that Christ was of divine origin, but not the Divinity Himself. Man's direct relationship with God through Christ was the basis for the inalienable rights and freedoms of man expressed in the American Constitution.
This is even more significant when studying the Koran and seeing Muhammad's many complaints against Christians, especdially seeing Christ as part of a Trinity . . . three Gods, instead of One God. This is what catapulted his
creation of a new Monotheism.
Muhammad asserted his complaint against Christians with this, and a misinterpretation of John of the Gospels (John 2 " . . . but an hour is coming when everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.") (John 13 "But when he,the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth . . . ") This is how Muhammad irrationally formed his religion . . . calling himself the promised helper, or paracletus. But, a 2nd Century monk, Montanus, made the same misinterpretation, calling himself the Final Prophet. He was excommunicated and eventually died . . . his promise unfulfilled. It is no surprise that with the extensive plagiarism Muhammad practiced, that Montanus' misinterpretation would also be adopted.
Indeed, the true nature of Muhammed is revealed in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 of the Gospel; "Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of
destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship [the Kabah], so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. The Apostacy may well be the Trinity
Doctrine and other pagan influences of the Roman empire. This was the one shred of truth which catapulted Muhammad and his hordes into history.
This is my only editorial comment on Chopra's Petition. Very few Christians or Jews recognize the significance of 2 Thessalonians and the adoption of Christianity by a pagan Emperor.

"Islam - Maker of the Muslim Mind"
The Muslim mind is predominantly a product of the Islamic doctrine, every other factor seeming to fade into comparative insignificance. Unlike followers of other religions, Muslims possess a fairly uniform worldview,
with local or other factors having little or no influence on the development of their thinking. Therefore, the Islamic doctrine has been engaging – or ought to engage - the interest of all those who need to understand and interact with Muslims anywhere in the world. A sound comprehension of precisely what Islam teaches and an appreciation of the supreme position it universally commands over the Muslim psyche thus become indispensable.
A study of Islam comprises the simultaneous consideration of three primary founts, to be contemplated in the light of one another : the Prophet's life, the Quran and the Hadis (or Sunnah). The sequence in which the 114 Quranic
Surahs (Chapters) has been traditionally arranged is not chronological; also, the 'Meccan' Ayats (Verses) differ considerably in import, tone and tenor from the later, 'Medinan' Ayats. This often provides scope for mutually contrasting directives to emerge from a text that is essentially clear and unambiguous in its objective, inducing many modern thinkers, claiming to be informed by a progressive-liberal outlook, to draw meanings or proffer interpretations that plainly were never intended in the original. However, the Muslim orthodoxy, which enjoys the largest following among Muslims, does not seem to agree with their views.
The present book was originally written in Marathi by Prof. Sheshrao More (from Nanded, Maharashtra, India) after a painstaking study of the three primary sources mentioned above. Backed by more than 200 impeccable references, the author presents, in its original chronological and spatial context, the logical meaning of each one of the Ayats that he discusses, attempting thereby to eliminate the ambiguity that so often obscures and even challenges accurate analysis. That he scrupulously keeps aloof of every kind of value judgment, one way or another, is a noteworthy aspect of the exercise. Indeed, so objective, thorough and faithful was the author's research and dissertation, that a five-member team of Muslim scholars selected by the Maharashtra unit of the Jamaat-i-Islami - the most influential opinion-making body of Muslims in India - to review the Marathi book, in its Foreword, heartily welcomed this 'non-Muslim' attempt (Prof. More is not a Muslim) at studying Islam. Even while indicating some points of disagreement, the committee showered high praise on the author for his correct appreciation of Islam. Going further, the committee even deemed the author a worthy recipient of the "Shah Faisal" award!
The book was selected for the Maharashtra State Government's Marathi Literary Award for the year 2002, while The Times of India was obliged to describe it as 'a landmark event' (TOI, 3rd November, 2002).
Feeling the need for the opus to reach the larger, non-Marathi-speaking readership, Prof. More assigned some of us to render an English-language version of the Marathi original. The responsibility for general editorship (as well as part of the translation) was graciously assumed by Prof. S. H. Deshpande (ex - Mumbai University), an eminent scholar of rare insight and exceptional erudition, himself an author of several books.
Besides the wealth of information incorporated within its 672 pages, the book also contains an exhaustive 90-page reader-friendly index that is a ready-reference to more than 200 sub-topics.
Priced at INR 800 / USD 30, the book is ready for publication under the auspices of Rajhans Prakashan, a renowned publishing house in Pune.
Islamic charity's copy of Quran calls for 'race to jihad'

The book, called "The Noble Quran," includes a chapter, called "Appendix 3," that tells readers to "race to jihad" and to include weapons such as missiles, planes and ships against the enemies of Allah.
Tom Nelson, the Portland attorney licensed as the Al-Haramain agent here, acknowledged the appendix's presence Saturday, saying that he believes government misinterprets it and uses it to paint the group as terrorists. "That's the one that's driving people nuts," Nelson said.
Nelson said he believes Seda and Soliman Al-Buthe, his Saudi Arabian partner in Al-Haramain, chose the version because it was a good translation of the Quran and not because of the addition of the appendix.
Nelson, who is Al-Buthe's lawyer, said the pair did not stress reading or applying the messages from "Appendix 3."
This version of the Quran was printed before the Sept. 11 attacks, when jihad did not have the same holy war connotations as today, Nelson said.
"I can see how Americans can be upset about it after 9/11," Nelson said. "I don't think they would have pre-9/11."
Despite the appendix's many references to violence and war, Nelson prefers to consider jihad as a "struggle" and that Islam teaches that "death is better than oppression."
"A call to jihad means (something) completely different to a Westerner than an Easterner," said Nelson, who is a practicing Muslim.
"There are all kinds of jihads," he said. "It can be a violent struggle. It can be a non-violent struggle."
Nelson said parts of the appendix are "somebody's opinion of what the Quran said," though it has become a focal point for making Muslims "appear as disparaging individuals," Nelson said.
"Frankly, I think everybody wishes 'Appendix 3' was never written," Nelson said.
"I wish it hadn't happened," he said. "I wish it wasn't there. But it is."

The climate has changed long ago, but so far no body has been bold enough to acknowledge it.
We all need to stand shoulder to shoulder to be able to live in peace and harmony, and if this means "outing" the truth and so be it. On this basis I am happy to support L D Daneman in his effort to gain an injunction against the printing and distribution of the Quran and related teachings. I think we all should support this holy task.
